In the past 10 years, more and more clothing brands and lifestyle brands have ben taking the eco-friendly route to combat the ugly effects fast fashion has had on the planet. It used to be hard to find ethical and eco-friendly underwear and lingerie brands. That has recently changed with the topic of climate change becoming a huge concern and fashion designers changing their ways to become more kind to mother earth. When deciding on which brands to buy from make sure they are transparent about their brand. You can usually find this information out on their website, but a quick email to the brand is also a great way to see if they practice sustainability or not. Its also important to look for environmentally conscious fabrics like organic cotton, fair-trade silk and an innovative textile called Tencel.

1. Intimissimi
This Italian clothing brand that started in 1996, is launching a eco-responsible collection this year and has started a pledge for any purchase made online, Intimissimi will plant a tree in honor of that customer in March. The Italian label is committed to planting 20,000 trees around the world. All the sustainable material used for the collection is available on the labels and also on the website.
2.Lara Intimates

This all female run brand uses up-cycled material for their lingerie meaning they re-use recycled and unused textiles from other large brands and factories that otherwise would have been thrown out. The prices are very fair and start at $24. Lara Intimates designs all their bras and bralettes with no underwire. Lastly, they have zero waste fabric, and use eco-friendly packaging with size-inclusive options.
3.Bare

Bare is an inclusive and sustainable brand based out of Bali by designer Kare Kupe who designs her work in Naarm, Australia. This is a line of basics and underwear made with bamboo. Bamboo is one of the most sustainable fabrics you can use that is just as soft, if not softer than cotton. It only needs rainwater to grow and does not need to be de-rooted after harvesting making it less damaging to the earth.
4. Uye Surana

This ethical brand is handcrafted in small batches in New York City. The founder and designer Monica Wesley is dedicated to sustainable practices by having all production done in-house, this allows for quality control and innovation. Each design is carefully crafted by hand, with keeping in mind all different body shapes and sizes. Each style is made in small and limited edition batches which means they don’t overproduce styles. The use materials from local suppliers, trusted overseas suppliers and a proportion of reclaimed deadstock.
5. Pansy
Pansy is brand based out of California that started in 2013. It uses all organic cotton for its bras and panties which are grown and milled locally as well as designed and sewn locally. The esthetic is minimal, sturdy and comfy crafted with care to create beautiful underwear you can feel good in and about wearing.
